Over
the years, we have developed a comprehensive process for
developing successful web sites. This process will vary
slightly from project to project. As the industry and goals
change, so too will the process. However, we have found
that the five steps outlined below provide a tremendous
framework for our online projects, a framework which is
powerful when properly implemented, yet simple to understand
and execute.
Step 1 - Goal Identification
In some cases, we are approached by clients with specific
goals in mind. In other cases, clients come to us only with
the idea of creating an online presence. In the first case
we work with our clients to refine their goals. In the second
case, we will sit down with the client and guide them towards
goals that fit their particular industry and more specifically,
their company. In both cases, we base our recommendations
on our experience with other clients in the same or similar
industries and on extensive research into the online playing
field.
This process continues until the goals are clear. In some
cases the goals are specific such as supplementing a traditional
media campaign, increasing sales volume, or reducing the
costs associated with print media. In others, the goal is
sometimes less concrete. In either case, determining the
goal is the essential step that determines the flow of the
rest of the project.
